Many times you may go to a yard sale and purchase an item that has no manual. Or, you may need to reset the time on your CD player but it isn't obvious how to do this. Never fear, owner's manuals for most products are available.
Case in point, I actually was given an old fax that was several years old. Going to the manufacturers website I was able to obtain the exact manual I needed. Without the manual I couldn't have used the item. As it is, I use it just to send faxes and it works great.
