Ebates pays you cash back every time you shop online. What's the catch? There isn't one! Online merchants pay a commission to websites when they send them buyers, and Ebates simply passes this commission back to you!
Since we joined a few years back, we've earned $518.06 in rebates from our purchases and friend referrals.
Want to buy something from Target, Barnes & Noble, Walmart, JC Penney, eBay, Sam's Club or one of your other favorite shopping stores? Going on a trip? Book your favorite hotels (Holiday Inn, Comfort, Sleep Inn, Marriott, Super 8, etc.) through Ebates and get rebates. There are thousands of stores to choose from!
Now for the free iPad or $500 cash a Flip Ultra HD or $200 cash ....
After you sign up and activate your account by making one purchase over $20 through the Ebate site directory of stores, you can then refer people to Ebates for their own account. They will need to sign up and place an order through the website also. By the way, when you sign up you get $5 applied to your account which will be activated as soon as you place your first order ... and we get $5 too, so that means you can refer friends and get $5 rebates added to the rebates you get from shopping through the Ebates website.
Flip Ultra HD
So ... if you refer 50 people to Ebates who make a purchase over $20, Ebates will send you a free iPad! If you refer 20 you'll get a Flip Ultra HD or $200 cash!
Do you blog or use Facebook or Twitter? How easy should it be to get friends and family to take advantage of this wonderful offer! Everybody knows 50 people who would love to know about up to 26% cash back on purchases they were going to make anyway. Each store has a different percentage of rebates and it changes as they have special promotions, but you'll always get something back for nothing ... except to go to Ebates before clicking through to your shopping place.
After you get signed up at Ebates, go to the "Tell-A-Friend" tab and get your referral link with your own Ebates number to begin your way to a free iPad.
Ebates will track the people signing up so you can check to see how close you are to winning the reward. Show your friends how to get a reward too and celebrate with them! I'll be celebrating with you too since I'm ready to win an iPad myself. Our son brought one during his visit and although I'm not a computer fan, it was definitely cool and so much easier to enjoy with just a touch of the finger. I got hooked.
The promotion ends on November 24, 2010, so sign up and get busy now! Copy this post and change my links to your link and blog it, Facebook or Twitter it, email it out and get on your way to win!
Time spent in front of the computer or television screen is associated with psychological problems in children, no matter how physically active the child is, according to a new study.
Previous studies have shown that physical activity is good for kids' psychological functioning, and that time spent in front of screens is bad for mental health. What researchers didn't know was whether one could cancel out the other.
"It wasn't clear whether having high physical activity levels would 'compensate' for high levels of screen viewing in children," study co-author Angie Page, a professor of exercise, nutrition and health sciences at the University of Bristol in England, wrote in an e-mail to LiveScience.
The researchers asked 1,013 British 10- and 11-year-olds how much time each day they spent in front of a computer or TV. The children also wore accelerometers around their waists for a week to track their physical activity and sedentary time. Read the entire article.
It's campaign time, so expect to hear plenty of promises that will never be kept—and not just from candidates. This is also the season for voter registration scams.

* Sign here to switch parties. But you won't know you're doing it. This scheme, which recently occurred in many parts of California, involves collecting signatures for petitions on hot-button issues such as the marijuana legalization or environmental initiatives. Even in the age of computer hacking and elaborate Internet schemes, huge numbers of identity thefts begin with something very old-fashioned, the loss or theft of a wallet or purse, according to the 2010 Identity Fraud Survey Report by Javelin Strategy & Research.
Online shoppers will score a better deal by buying certain items on specific days of the week, reports ShopItToMe.com, a website that tracked some 1 million sale items from more than 100 of its online retail partners.
It found that the best Web-based sales are offered Wednesday through Friday, with discounts up to five percentage points lower than sales on other days. For the best savings, shop Mondays for dress slacks and sunglasses, Tuesdays for menswear, Wednesdays for shoes and boys' clothing, Thursdays for handbags and girls' clothing, Fridays for accessories (and, again, girls' clothing), Saturdays for intimate apparel and outerwear, and Sundays for swimsuits.
With most airlines charging for checked luggage, consider shipping it ahead. To send a 25-pound bag from Chicago to Orlando, for example, can take several days but costs less than $20 via parcel post, FedEx or UPS ground services — versus the $25 charged by most airlines. Currently, Southwest doesn't charge for the first two checked bags weighing less than 50 pounds, and JetBlue allows one free checked piece.
Depending on your airline, you might save even more by shipping bags weighing 50-plus pounds. Delta, for example, charges $90 for that "overweight" bag on domestic flights, whereas shipping it coast to coast would cost less than $66.
Also, says AirfareWatchdog CEO George Hobica, "you'll enjoy better shipping tracking than the airlines can offer, plus better security. And you can breeze through the airport without waiting in line to check in your bags."
The Nov. 2 election is shaping up as one for the record books. Voters will choose more governors than ever before, 37, and the most U.S. senators in any election since 1962, also 37. They'll determine which party controls Congress. They'll decide issues that can profoundly affect their lives with about 150 measures on ballots in 35 states. Elections in 88 of the 99 state legislative chambers will set the stage for reapportionment wrangling that will shape state and federal politics for a decade. Here are five reasons your vote this year is especially important.
Each year, the average American drinks about 48 gallons of carbonated beverages, but only about one-third of all plastic soda bottles get recycled, according to the American Chemical Council (ACC).
We — or at least our landfills — are drowning in discarded soda bottles.
The ACC says that residential recycling programs for soda and other plastic bottles are now available to more than 80 percent of Americans, and that's clearly a solution to keeping bottles out of the landfills. But there are also several creative ways to reuse ... Read the entire article and watch a video.
Consumers over recent years have expressed through their buying habits a desire for more healthy foods, stores and food manufacturers have begun to listen, giving us more health focused options. However, it sometimes seems that in order to eat healthy also means paying more for those foods.
Here are a few tips which can help lower your bill while still managing to make good and healthy choices for you and your family.
Avoid Greasy Pizzas by Making Your Own
For many families, Friday nights are considered pizza night. Simply pick up a phone and dial your local pizza delivery company. However, it is still possible to have a pizza night, but without all the greasy oils and unnecessary fats. Instead, learn to make a basic homemade pizza dough from scratch. When you find a recipe you like, make a few batches and freeze them individually. Take one out each Friday morning and leave in the refrigerator to thaw. By the time you are home from work, take out the dough and let it rest for about 10 minutes on a floured surface. While it is resting, prepare your toppings from pepperoni slices to red onion, sliced tomatoes, black olives and anything else you desire. Roll out the dough and layer on the toppings. Bake according to your pizza recipe's instructions. The entire process should take less than 15 minutes not including the cooking time.
Make Homemade Waffles in Large Batches
Similar to the homemade pizza, this tip has to do with making and freezing multiple batches. Choose a weekend to make a nice batch of waffles. Except this time double the batch and plan for allowing extra time to cook. Let each waffle cool, and then wrap in plastic wrap or wax paper. Then wrap in foil making sure all edges are sealed tightly. Place in large freezer bags and label the contents and the date. Now, for many future ... Read the entire article.
