I have a recipe that requires buttermilk. Since I don't drink milk and I am a vegetarian, I decided to see if I could find a substitute. Sure enough, in a bread making book I found the suggestion to add a tablespoon of vinegar to a cup of milk (I used apple cider vinegar).
However, remember I said I don't like milk and don't want to drink it. Instead I used Tofu Moo a powdered milk substitute instead.
I found it improved the flavor and now I will be using the vinegar and Tofu Moo combination anytime a recipe requires buttermilk.
